The Edinburgh Science Foundation is an educational charity founded in 1989, best known for creating the world’s first public science and technology festival—the Edinburgh Science Festival. Its mission is to inspire and challenge people of all ages to explore the world around them, with charity aims focused on advancing public understanding of science, supporting young people’s education, and fostering collaboration between scientists and society. Alongside the flagship festival, the Foundation runs outreach programmes such as Generation Science, Careers Hive and international projects through its Worldwide arm, all designed to promote science as accessible, relevant, and transformative.
The Spectris Foundation is supporting Generation Science, touring STEM workshops for schools in remote areas of Scotland for three years. This programme will help benefit individuals, school children, teachers, and the public, with a special focus on those in areas of deprivation and rural isolation. Together, we aim to champion accessible and equitable participation in science for people of all ages and backgrounds.
