Christel House’s 18-year, kindergarten-to-career model is a global exemplar of holistic, STEM-based education for children experiencing poverty. Our decision to support Christel House is driven by three central attributes: its unwavering focus on those most in need, its proven record of success, and its relentless pursuit of equity in STEM.

The scope of Christel House’s impact is extraordinary. By 2025, its no-fee schools in Bangalore and Atal Nagar (with a third opening in 2025) will serve 2,342 students from the most marginalized communities, prioritizing girls and families with an average monthly income of less than £23 per household member. In a country where 35 million children aged 6-14 are out of school—and where girls are especially at risk of being denied an education—Christel House’s focus on STEM provides a powerful antidote to the cycle of poverty.

We are inspired by Christel House’s comprehensive strategy:

  • Technology as an Enabler: Every student has access to modern IT resources, dedicated computer labs, and a 1:1 device-to-student ratio. The curriculum integrates e-learning, digital literacy (including cyber safety), and advanced computer science concepts, ensuring students are prepared for the digital world.
  • Investment in STEM Infrastructure: Each school boasts fully equipped STEM labs, with teacher training as a priority. Students participate in Olympiads, competitions, and science exhibitions, fueling both aspiration and achievement.
  • Career Development and Lifelong Support: Christel House supports its graduates through university, funds enrolment fees, and assists with employment. Alumni networks and partnerships with tech leaders like Nokia, Dell, and Amazon further empower students to succeed in STEM careers.
